Dr. William Sprague, 60, formerly of Des Moines, IA, died Tuesday, September 27, 2005, at 4:20 p.m., at his home in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Sprague is survived by his devoted wife of four years, Sharon Cole Sprague; daughters, Tyra Williams and husband, Doug of Everett, WA, Amy Zerkle and husband, Rob of Des Moines, IA; three sons, Justin and wife, Melissa of Orem UT, Jeremy and wife, Kary of Waukee, IA, Matthew and wife, Lindsay of Fayetteville, NC; and 12 grandchildren; special foster family of Dorwin and Catherine Martin of Menlo Park, CA; stepsons, Gary Keller and wife, Alicia of Mason, OH, David Keller and wife, Chantel of Riverside, MO, Scott Keister of Salt Lake City, UT, Justin Keister of Evansville, IN; four step-grandchildren; and his faithful and ever attentive dog, Fritz. He was preceded in death by his birth parents, Leonard Earl Sprague and Irene Janet Curley Sprague; and his beloved first wife, Linda Johnson Sprague. Dr. Sprague graduated from Brigham Young University and received a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the California College of Podiatric Medicine. He later graduated from Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine with a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine. He served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1973 and in the United States Army from 1973 to 1990, attaining the rank of Major. Dr. Sprague served valiantly in many leadership and teaching positions during his 40 years of faithful membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Private family services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Dolores, CO with burial in Sylvan Cemetery in Pleasant View, CO. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross, 142 Monroe NE, 87108 or to The Humanitarian Aid Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to benefit victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
