Obituary for FRANKLIN

Lawrence "Larry" Franklin, age 92, of Albuquerque for over 20 years, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 24, 2005. He was born in Beverly, MA on September 26, 1913 to Llewelyn and Eleanor (Wood) Franklin. He is survived by his son, George and wife, Sally, of Albuquerque; son Rev. David Franklin of Ridgefield, CT; daughter Gail Hanagan and her husband, Bill of Singapore; grandchildren Jeffrey Franklin and wife, Charity, Rebecca Wiseman and husband, Master Sergeant Sonny, Bridget Hanagan and Nora Hanagan; great-grandchildren Troy and Savanna Wiseman, Lauren, Alicia and Colin Franklin. He was preceded in death by his former wife; Josephine Cataldo Franklin and step-son Vincent James Cataldo. Jimmy's wife Anna and their children and grandchildren also survive. Larry worked for many years as an advertising manager at the Salem Evening News in Salem, MA. He embarked on a new career with the Fred Harvey Company at the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Larry worked at the Grand Canyon for over 10 years at Moqui Lodge and formed lasting friendships with fellow employees from across the United States as well as many guests from all over the world. During WWII and after, Larry served as a volunteer fireman with the Beverly Fire Department and began a lifelong interest in firefighting and fire trucks. Visitors to his residence at Westwind House were frequently invited to view his extensive collection of model fire trucks. Memorial service will take place on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at French Mortuary-Westside Chapel.
