Obituary for SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez, 99, of Santa Rosa, NM passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2005, five days short of his 100th birthday in Gallup, NM at the home of his daughter, Eva Crow. A lifetime resident of the Santa Rosa area, he was born on September 20, 1905 in Juan De Dios, NM, the eldest of six children to the late Steven and Serapia (Baca) Sanchez. He later moved south of Santa Rosa where he met and married his wife Anita Angel. They made their home in Santa Rosa. Alfredo was a longtime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was most happy when he was out ranching and farming. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Sanchez after 76 years of marriage; his third and fourth daughters, "Agneditas"; brothers, Pelagio and Alfonso Sanchez; and his sister, Tana Garcia. Alfredo is survived by his sisters, Julia Aragon of Clovis and Clara Medina of Bernalillo; his children: Stephen and wife, Lucinda, Aurora and husband, Eddie Cordova, Cecilia Salazar, Joe and wife, Gloria, Jimmy and wife, Julia, Nettie and husband, Bobby Espinosa, Odelia and husband, Roman Martinez, Mary Jane and husband, Martin Giron, Julia and husband, Eddie King, Alfredo and wife, Prudence, Max and wife, Christine, Eva and husband, Gary Crow. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Rosary services will be conducted on Monday, September 19, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers will include David Sanchez, Eddie Cordova, Andrew Salazar, Robert Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez, Bobby Espinosa, Roman Martinez, Martin Giron, Eddie King, Gary Crow, Melacia Diliberto, Cheyenne Kass, and Patrick Cordova. Honorary pallbearers will be all his grandchildren. Visitation will held on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. All Services are entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd St. Santa Rosa, NM (505)472-3369.
