Obituary for OLAGUE

ERNEST P. Retired APD Sgt. Ernest P. Olague 78 years old, passed away on September 15th, 2005. Ernie is survived by his son, Larry Olague and wife, Cathy, daughter, Patricia Gabaldon and husband, Henry; sons, Stanley Olague and David Olague; daughter, Jeannie Gabaldon and husband, Willie; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; longtime companion, Jennie Beserra and her family, all of Albuquerque. Ernie is also survived by his brother, Bill Olague and wife, Ruth of Shreveport, LA; and sister-in-law, Jenny Olague of Chino Valley, AZ. As well as many nieces and nephews, other family and friends who loved and will miss him. Ernie proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He retired from the Albuquerque Police Department in 1978 after 29 years with the department. Ernie is a past president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1, 1969-1974. After retiring from APD he worked as a fraud investigator for Sunwest Bank retiring in 1996. Ernie was very active with the American Legion, serving as Commander of Post 99 from 1992-1994, and Department of New Mexico Commander from 1998-1999. As Chairman of the Legislative Committee for Veterans Affairs Ernie was instrumental in passing legislation to allow gaming at fraternal organizations in NM. Because of his diligent work many charities have benefited from this legislation. Ernie was very proud of his family and they were very proud of him. He was much loved and will be deeply missed. The Rosary will be recited at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church 5311 Phoenix Ave NE, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2005. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on September 20, 2005 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Roy Gabaldon, Michael Gabaldon, Robert Gardiner, Brian Gardiner, Stephen Gardiner and Shane Dedig. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy Gabaldon and Sesbatian Gardiner.
