Obituary for HANSEN

Neil E. Hansen passed away peacefully after a long illness at Manzano Del Sol Health Care Center in Albuquerque on Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the age of 87. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eunice Hansen; sons, David Hansen, Robert Hansen and wife, Mary, all of San Diego, CA; daughter, Mary Caudill of Carrolton, TX; five grandchildren, Samantha and Sarah Caudill, David Jr., and Natalie Hansen, and Michael Hansen; and great-grandson, Armando Caudill. Neil was born on January 19, 1918 in New London, WI. He joined the Army in 1940 and was a World War II veteran. After being discharged, he attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1950 with a degree in economics. That same year, Neil and Eunice moved from Madison, WI to Albuquerque. During his career, Neil worked for Sandia Corporation, the Atomic Energy Commission, Eberline Industries and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. He retired in 1985. Neil was an active, involved member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church and was president of the Governing Board of ARCA for three years. He was also an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32. He loved gardening and working in his yard. Neil was loved by many who will miss him. A private interment will be held Tuesday, at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2005, 4:00 p.m., at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, 211 Jefferson NE. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, 211 Jefferson NE, 87108 or to Manzano Del Sol Good Samaritan Village Health Care Center, 5201 Roma Ave NE, 87108.
