Obituary for ELMORE

Gladys Elizabeth Free Elmore was born to John William Free and Onie Ocie Shaw Free on May 23, 1922 in Minco, Oklahoma. She was the second of five children and the only daughter. Gladys married Kellous Warren "KW" Elmore on September 13, 1945 in Gainsville, Texas. Following his death in 1967, she continued raising their four daughters as she sought employment outside the home. After working in home furnishings at Montgomery Ward, she began a fifteen year association with AT&T as a long distance operator. Upon retiring, she moved from Albuquerque to Edgewood where she remained until her peaceful death on September 3, 2005. She joined our Lord following respiratory failure resulting from pneumonia. She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Ira Robert, J. B., Delbert and Vernon Lee. She is survived by daughters, Diana Ward and husband, Roger of Fairview, Oklahoma, Shirley Barlow and husband, Bill of Edgewood, New Mexico, Jeanie Nelson and husband, Tom and Frankie Jo Elmore and partner, Barb LeDoux of Aurora, Colorado. Gladys also leaves grandsons, Josh and Jonathan Nelson; granddaughters, Kim Barlow and Rinda Bowden and; great-granddaughters Kayli Nelson and Austynn Dodson. She is at rest.
