Obituary for JORDAN

IRVINE G. Prominent Albuquerque surgeon Dr. Irvine G. Jordan passed away at his home the evening of Monday, August 15, 2005. A native of Dallas, TX, Dr. Jordan was a graduate of Texas A & M University and Tulane University School of Medicine. He served as a battlefield surgeon and commander of a MASH unit in the Korean War, and settled in Albuquerque in 1956 where he was a senior partner in Albuquerque Orthopedic Associates. He retired from medical practice in 1985, but stayed active by devoting his time to Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church and to charitable activities including Habitat for Humanity, and by exercising his considerable artistic talents with the New Mexico Watercolor Society. Dr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Jean Rentz; three children, Robert, Ann, and Jennifer; and six grandchildren. One son, Douglas, preceded him in death. His family remembers him as a man of great character and generosity on whose love and support all could depend, and they will miss him immeasurably. Dr. Jordan requested a simple Memorial Service attended only by immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix Rd.
