Mackenzie Brianna Fredrickson July 10, 2005 - August 10, 2005. Mackenzie Brianna Fredrickson, a micro preemie, daughter of Frank D. Fredrickson and Shannon White-Fredrickson, of Durango, Colorado died on Wednesday morning at the University of New Mexico's Newborn Intensive Care Unit. Mackenzie's maternal grandparents are Ed and Jerry White, and her fraternal grandparents are Frank Fredrickson and Cherry Zielakowski. Mackenzie leaves behind family members and family friends who all share in our loss. We only had her for a short time and we will all mourn the life of what could have been. Mackenzie touched us and so many others by her strong spirit and will to live. The family thanks the faculty, fellows and residents of the UNM School of Medicine and the nurses and staff of University of New Mexico Hospital for their care of Shannon. We also have a special place in our hearts for the faculty, fellows, residents, nurses, and staff of the NICU for the tender care and love they gave to our little Mackenzie and to us the family. A special heartfelt thanks goes to Dave Hartenberger, UH Chaplain, for his support, care, and love throughout this past month. Words cannot express our gratitude to these individuals. A Memorial Service to honor Mackenzie's short life will be held late in October at Box Canyon Falls outside of Ouray, Colorado on her original due date.
