Obituary for HARVEY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday August 10, 2005

Mark Stephen Harvey. Our Lord and Savior called home our angel, Mark Stephen Harvey, age 45, Friday, August 5, 2005. Mark was born in Oroville, California October 5, 1959, soon after his family returned from four years in Oxford, England. He lived his early baby years in Albuquerque, then some years in France, but his favorite country was Turkey where he got to ride donkeys and experience the day to day interests of another country and people. His next home was Beale Air Force Base where he started a life long interest in gardening and planted a great garden at ten years old. While living in Florida, Mark was involved with Little League baseball and continued playing ball when he came back to Albuquerque. Mark never met a cat, dog, or other creature that he didn't love and want to keep even when they gave him love bites. His lifelong friend in Albuquerque is Gil Litts. Mark was a graduate of Del Norte High School. He worked hard at everything he did including paperboy and yard work as a young boy. He began his mechanic career in high school and continued it for 21 years working at an Exxon Station and then at Bill's Auto Parts & Service, both owned by his Father. Being a mechanic was only one of many jobs that he was successful at. Mark also worked various jobs, in an oriental restaurant, construction companies, and also worked with a painting company owned by his lifelong friend's Father. Mark had a green thumb throughout his life. He loved gardening and sharing all the produce that he grew in abundance. Mark did everything in abundance including the love he shared with family, relatives and friends he met along the way. He was always ready and willing to help anyone do anything! He loved the great outdoors, and in 1985, his dream came true to live in the mountains. In 1990 he married Anita Mae Sanchez, who he secretly admired throughout his school years. In 1997 they were blessed with a son, Nicholas Stephen, the jewel in his life. Mark's career and focus in life changed as he willingly took on the responsibility to care for his son. They share a never ending bond of love. "He is the best Dad in the whole wide world!" says Nicholas. Recently, a dear friend of the family was in need of help with their several acres of land and home. Without hesitation, Mark devoted his time and energy into helping them out. He was preceded in death by his beloved niece, Erica Harvey of Phoenix, AZ; paternal grandparents, Loren and Verna Grace Harvey of West Palm Beach, FL; maternal grandparents, John Sumner Mills of Bridgeport, CT, Edna Anna Mills of Saratoga Springs, NY. He leaves behind a multitude of family and friends beginning with his wife, Anita and son, Nicholas; his parents, Patricia and William Harvey; his brother, Michael Harvey and wife Cynthia Clark of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Sandra and husband Glenn Roberts; sister, Stephanie and husband Donald Roberts; brother, Kerry Harvey and companion Liz Schenk; brother, Matthew and wife Kathryn Harvey; sister-in-law, Catherine Harvey, his nieces and nephews, Briana Clark-Harvey of Phoenix, AZ, Shannon and Ryan Schwebach, son, Wiley, Tiffany and Robert Bibeau, Jessica and Everett Dossey, son Tucker, Glenn Ryan Roberts, Ashley and Katlyn Roberts and Alexander and Alsace Harvey.
