Alfonso Zamora, 83, passed away in Tucson, AZ on Friday, July 1, 2005. He was born in Manzano, NM. Alfonso served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II and is a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient. He retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Barstow, CA as a Civil Service Worker and went on to work there as a non-appropriated worker until the age of 79. Alfonso was preceded in death by his wife, Erlinda; son, Anthony; grandson, Ricky; son in law, Bill Pope; parents, Adolfo and Ramona Zamora; sisters, Priscilla Ojola, Cleo Garcia; and brother in law, Dan Perea. He is survived by his daughter, Luz Pope of Tucson, AZ; a son, Alfonso Jr. of Seattle, WA; sisters, Nellie Perea, Josephine Aragon and Vivien Espinoza; and brothers, Rupert Zamora and Adolfo Zamora Jr. of Albuquerque; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 29, 2005 at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco Rd., at 9:00 a.m. in Albuquerque, NM.
