LaDon Ann Boom, 74, of West Des Moines, IA, formerly of Rio Rancho, died suddenly June 11, 2005. Local Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, 1004-24th Street, Rio Rancho. LaDon Riedesel was born October 7, 1930, in Wheatland, IA to Dr. Elmer and Augusta Stankee Riedesel. She graduated from Wheatland High School in 1948 and obtained her BA from Cornell College in 1952 and her MA from Western Illinois University. She taught music for many years in small towns in eastern Iowa, and established the first elementary guidance program for the Calamus-Wheatland School District, retiring in 1993. She directed church choirs in IA and NM and Handel's Messiah for the Koinonia Choral Society for nearly 25 years. She was a passionate advocate for the fine arts, and had a deep appreciation for the beauty of New Mexico. LaDon married Deane Boom in 1952. Survivors include her children, Ried of Manchester, IA, Ross of Rio Rancho, Darca of West Des Moines, IA, and Carrie of Shoreline, WA; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church Music Fund.
