Obituary for SPRADLING

John. Our beloved John William Spradling born on March 19, 1943 was taken into our Lord's hands on June 15, 2005. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Lorraine, of the home in Los Lunas, New Mexico; his daughter, Brandan, of Gilbert Arizona. John is also survived by his aunt, Fanny May Durham of Hollis, Oklahoma; sisters, Sandra Byrd and husband, Terry of Altus, Oklahoma and Betty Roberts and husband, James of Gruver, Texas; his mother-in-law, Martina D. Padilla of Belen, New Mexico; in laws, Eloy G. Padilla Jr., Josephine Padilla, Hortencia Torres and husband, Pete, John Padilla, Kris Padilla and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was an esteemed, award winning educator in New Mexico for 29 1/ 2 years. He taught and was a school administrator in Tucumcari and Artesia. He retired to pursue a successful business career from which he was hoping to retire very soon. John never met a stranger. His exuberant personality and kind heart touched the lives of his students, his colleagues, and everyone he met. John had a passion for his family, his work and shopping. He was a staunch advocate of the Organ Donation and very dedicated to his son's memorial and its work. We know that John has now joined his son, Jonathan, his parents, Sherman and Billy Sprading of Hollis, Oklahoma where he grew up and many others in heavenly glory with our Lord above. Services for John will be held Monday morning, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 322 W. Grand Ave., in Artesia, New Mexico with visitation at the church at 10:30 a.m. and Tuesday morning, June 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, in Los Chavez, New Mexico, 5 miles south of Los Lunas on Hwy 314, with visitation at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Belen Catholic Cemetery.
