Obituary for TABER

Ray A. Taber, 90, passed away on June 14, 2005. He celebrated his 90th birthday on April 22, of this year. Ray was born and raised in California. He met his wife, Virginia, at Chapman University. They would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on the 22nd of this month. Ray was proud to have been associated with Coca Cola for 20 years and the business courses he took at Harvard under their auspices. He was very much a part of Sausalito, California from 1973 to 1988. He was the owner of a business selling electronics gear for boats, was a member of the Sausalito Yacht Club, and was an active member of Rotary. He was on the Sausalito City Council and also served as Mayor. Ray and his wife moved to Rio Rancho in 1988. He served as one of the members of the first Rio Rancho Charter Commission which established Rio Rancho as a city, rather than a town, thereby making it more independent of state government. He was proud of being a Rio Rancho Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Rio Rancho Golf Club. Ray is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter, Laura; and son, John. A Memorial Service will be held in September.
