Obituary for BOLTON

Veva (Toad) Bolton went home to the Lord and her family and friends on Friday, June 3, 2005. She was born in Whon, TX to Tom and Effie Freeman Cooper on February 13, 1922. She graduated from Centennial High School as a star basketball player. On June 11, 1943, she married Venon Bolton at the Coleman Church of Christ, during her lunch hour. They shared 47 years together until Venon passed away in 1990. In 1947 they moved to Fort Pierre, SD where they resided until 1967 at which time they returned to Texas, first to Sealy and then to Odessa. Veva had four brothers and three sisters. Alfred Cooper and wife Rexa Dae, both deceased; Jack Cooper, deceased and wife Skeeta of Temple, TX; Pete Cooper, deceased; Elec Cooper and wife Rose of Rockwood, TX; sisters, Louise Davis, deceased and husband Alton of Snyder, TX; Loma Minnix and husband Boog, both deceased; and Betty Jo Cooper deceased, and many nephews and nieces. She is survived by her daughter, Dana Pexa and husband Revi, of Albuquerque; grandsons, Revi Don Pexa of Phoenix, AZ, John Pexa and wife Tiffany, great-granddaughter Chloe of Phoenix, AZ; and Van Pexa of Albuquerque; step-daughter Joyce Hamby and husband Paul of Phoenix, AZ; step-son, Ray Bolton of Denver, CO; and step-daughter Connie Newman and husband Wally of Fort Pierre, SD. For the past 4 1/2 years Veva resided at Bear Canyon Retirement Center and Carestone Assisted Living. Services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Friends may visit French Mortuary on Sunday, June 5, 2005 from 4 - 7 p.m. Services in Coleman, TX will be held at Stephens Funeral Home, 325-625-2175, please refer to them for times. Burial will follow at Rockwood Cemetery. Veva requested that memorial donations be made to Special Olympics New Mexico, 6600 Palomas Ave NE, 87109, in the name of her grandson, Van Pexa.
