Obituary for LECKEY

Major Beth Leckey, 43, a resident of Albuquerque, died on May 22, 2005. She is survived by her husband, George Leckey; daughter, Jennifer Leckey; son, Nicholas Leckey; parents, Harold and Nell Preuss of Castalia, IA; brothers and sisters, Jeannie, Donna, Lynn, Lee, Lori, Dennis, Peggy, Kathy, Sheila, Joe; step-son, Joshua and granddaughter, Ashley Leckey. Beth joined the Air Force as a nurse in 1986 and it was her wish to travel around the world. Prior to the Air Force, she was a traveling nurse in New York and Oklahoma. Beth was a very proficient and caring nurse and decided to further her career by attending anesthesia school in San Antonio, TX in 1991. She has been a nurse anesthetist since that time. In her career, anesthesia was her true love and she was highly respected and regarded by her peers. Beth was an excellent mother and cook and loved to read. She loved her military career and served during the last Gulf war overseas and was deployed several other times. Beth was to retire from the Air Force in February and was looking forward to moving to Iowa in December to be close to her family. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Kirtland Air Force Base Chapel. Graveside Services will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in Castalia, IA with full military honors.
