Arnold Vereen, 99, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, died on Sunday, May 8, 2005. He is survived by his son, Kevin Vereen; sisters, Charlsie Lam and Mauree Faris; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Faye of 56 years, in 1994. Arnold was born in Irene, TX on July 12, 1905. After living in many places in Texas and New Mexico, he settled in Estancia, NM where he owned a cafe and later managed the school cafeteria. After retirement in 1970, he moved to Albuquerque where he continued to serve the community as a school crossing guard for Mitchell Elementary. Services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel with Rev. David Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Howard Brunell, Walter E. Timmons, David H. Timmons, Michael Lam, Brett Stahnke and Chad Stahnke.
