Kathryn Kaliel Medrano, 42, of Albuquerque, passed away Friday April 22, 2005. Kathy is survived by her husband of 22 years Oscar; son, Jose Medrano; and daughter, Karisa Medrano all of the family home. Also surviving are her parents Lorenzo and Billye Archunde; her sister Betty and husband, Tom Valdez; niece Alene and husband, Michael Wilson; and her godchildren Tommy Valdez and Marcus Wilson; nephew John Valdez; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives, including close friends. Kathy's death was unexpected and is a great loss to her family, friends and co-workers. Kathy was an employee for the Albuquerque Police Department for over 20 years, where she was a project manager in the crime lab. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church, 4000 St. Josephs Dr. NW. Mass of Christian Burial for Kathy will be celebrated Wednesday April 27, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church with Fr. Frank Prieto, Celebrant. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday April 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the educational needs of the Medrano children "The Kathy Medrano Miracle Fund".
