Obituary for WOLTERS

Rita Haines Wolters, 71, a Corrales resident, passed on to a new life on April 15, 2005. Rita was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Akron, OH, to Herman Wolters and Ella Haines Wolters, who preceded her in death. Rita is survived by her uncle, Dr. Benjamin Haines and wife, Julie of Las Cruces, NM; cousins: Lee E. Haines Jr. and wife, Thais of Placitas, NM, Dorrey Lee West and Amanda West of Rio Rancho, Brandon Haines and wife, Nancy of Albuquerque, Brian Haines and wife, Lily, Benjamin Haines, Jr. and wife, Sandra, Edward Haines and wife, Nyeta, all of Las Cruces. Rita was faithfully cared for by her good and patient friend, Janie Moseley, over the past few years as her respiratory and other problems worsened. Other friends, Jan Ward, Margarita Altruz and husband, Don, Adele DiStefano, Janet Stokes, Sef Saiz, Cathy, Bea, and Olga, enjoyed visiting with Rita and celebrating various occasions, especially birthday parties, for many years. After graduating from St. Pius High School in 1953 where she was active in drama and music, Rita joined the Marine Corps. Graduating from University of Albuquerque, majoring in speech and drama, Rita taught in the St. Pius speech and drama department. She had many delightful roles in plays at the University of Albuquerque under the direction of the legendary Jim Morley in the light opera workshop. She had a beautiful singing and speaking voice and loved to make people laugh and enjoy life. Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2005, 4 to 8 p.m., in Vista Verde Mortuary, 4310 Sara Rd. in Rio Rancho. A celebration of her life will be Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in Vista Verde Mortuary Chapel, followed by interment in the Vista Verde Memorial Park Garden of Patriots. Pallbearers are: Sef Saiz, Don Altruz, Robert Capen, Scott Risley, Oscar Love III, Lee E. Haines Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Haines and Mahlon Love.
