Obituary for ANDREWS

Robert F. Andrews, age 82, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 11, 2005 at Valle Norte Caring Center in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eva Herbert and his parents, Mark Lawton and Blanch Andrews. Robert was born near Urbana, MO, February 6, 1923. He graduated from Urbana High School, and attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield until 1943 when he served his country by joining the U.S. Navy. After marrying his childhood sweetheart, Ida Taylor, in 1945, he left the service in 1946 to return to his college studies. Robert and his family moved to Los Alamos, NM in 1947 when he accepted a job with the Protective Force for the Atomic Energy Commission, having retired in 1978 as Captain in Orders and Publications Office. In 1969, he moved his family to Pajarito Village, south of Los Alamos, in order to indulge in his passion for farming and raising beautiful orchids. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1997 to be close to his son, Paul. Robert is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ida; his two sons, Robert Micheal and Paul Fleming Andrews; his two grandsons, Matias (born of Paul and Maria Andrews) and John Robert (born of Robert Micheal and Louise Andrews); and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He loved camping, fly-fishing, fly-tying, farming, growing gorgeous orchids, and was a Scout leader for many years. Funeral Services will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano Road, Albuquerque, NM, on Friday, April 15, 2005. The Viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Pastor Tom Hart will officiate.
