Obituary for WARD

William Thomas ("Bill") Ward died on April 1, 2005. Bill was born on November 24, 1923 in Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn ("Kay") Ward. He was the only child of Henry Woodfin Grady Ward and Minnie Lee Thomas Ward. He is survived by his son, Tom and wife, Catherine, of Athens, TX; his daughter, Melody and husband, Perry Baird, of Albuquerque; four grandsons, Scott and wife, Olga, of Nyack, NY; Jeremy and wife, Ginger, of Pinebush, NY; Matt and wife, Elizabeth, of Ridgecrest, CA; and Jonathan of Albuquerque; three granddaughters, Brandy and husband, Josh Landers, of Oklahoma City, OK; Bethany and husband, Oscar Camacho, of Albuquerque; and Elizabeth of Dallas, TX; three great-grandsons, Dimitri, Nathan, and Jacob; and four great-granddaughters, Katie, Jasmine, Callie, and Jayde. Bill was a bomber pilot with the 8th Air Force during World War II, returned to Alabama after the war, married Kay, and graduated from Auburn University with a degree in electrical engineering. Bill and Kay raised their family in Albuquerque and operated several successful businesses in Albuquerque and Arizona. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Sunrise Funeral Options, 7601 Wyoming Blvd., NE, Albuquerque, NM. It is suggested that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Vista Care Hospice Foundation, 5201 Venice, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113.
