Gilbert Louis Sena passed away Saturday, April 2, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Louise and one son, Rico DiMarzio, Austin, TX. He was preceded in death by both parents, Julian and Pita Sena, and is predeceased by his siblings: Paul, Mary Alice, Julian, and Ernestine. He is also survived by his seven brothers and sisters: Benny Sena, (Carola), Albuquerque, NM, Tony Sena, (Susan), Marion, IL, Viola Beals, Westminster, CO, Estella McGrath, (Gary), Concord, CA, Margaret Emsick, (Reed), Elk Horn, NE, Lawrence Sena, (Grace), Las Animas, CO, Anita Sean-Johnson, (Eldon), Seattle, WA; 29 nieces and nephews; his mother- and father-in law, Panfilo and Clorinda Tafoya; and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Larry Bernhard (Ma) and Juanita Sena, CA, Teresa and Dennis Pieretti, CA, and Viola M. Tafoya and Jeff Escalier, CA. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. Dr. Sena began his career in education in Las Vegas, NM in 1972. He was the first principal of Capital High School in Santa Fe and moved to Albuquerque to serve as superintendent of Bernalillo Public Schools. Dr. Sena co-founded Creative Education Preparatory Institutes I and II and served international students as Adjunct Faculty for Southeast Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He resided in the North Valley and enjoyed all the trials and tribulations of rural life. He relaxed by dancing, reading extensively, and sharing his time with many friends and family. There will be a visitation and Rosary at The Chapel of Sunrise with date and time to be announced. A Mass will also be recited at Risen Savior Catholic Community, also to be announced.
