Obituary for EPSTEIN

Dr. Bernard Epstein, 84, died in Potomac, MD on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Florence; and five children: David (and Wendy), of Potomac, MD; Deborah, of Katzrin, Israel; Ruth (and Yuval), of Kibbutz Ein Shemer, Israel; Jeremy (and Monica), of Fairfax, VA; and Jonathan (and Rachel), of Bethesda, MD. He also had 16 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Rivka. Dr. Epstein received his doctorate in mathematics from Brown University in 1947. He was a physicist on the Manhattan Project, and later taught at the University of New Mexico from 1963 until his retirement in 1984. Those who knew him were keenly aware of his love for classical music and anything Jewish.
