Lt/Colonel Winfred Clinton Buskirk (ret) died in his sleep March 14, 2005 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Eldorado, KS on February 20, 1908 and educated in the public schools of San Antonio and Salt Lake City, UT. He was a graduate of the University of Utah and the University of New Mexico earning a Doctorate in Anthropology. A long-time resident of Albuquerque, before and after military service during World War II, where he taught history at the old Albuquerque High School. In 1990 he and his wife, Alice moved to San Antonio. He was a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Veteran Corps of Artillery, the Aztec Club, the Military Order of the World Wars, Post 401, Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Sojourner, a World War II veteran, and a retired teacher of the New Mexico Educational System. On March 23, 2005, Graveside Services were conducted at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Following the Service, he was buried alongside his wife, Alice Crutcher Buskirk. His only family survivor is his sister, Katharine Dalgleish, 1400 Yale Avenue, Salt Lake City, UT 84105-1615. His sister has requested that no flowers be sent in his memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions could be made to a charity or an educational institution of your choice.
