Pleasant, TN on March 4, 1925. During WWII, he served honorably as a submariner in the Pacific Theater aboard the USS Trepang. Following WWII, Frank attended Baylor University in Waco, TX where he met Janie. Frank and Janie were married on August 24, 1949. Frank continued his education at George Washington University Medical School in Washington, D.C., and received his medical degree from G.W.U. in 1953. Upon completion of his residency in 1960, Frank and Janie moved to Albuquerque where he practiced orthopedic surgery at Lovelace Medical Center until his retirement in 1989. During his tenure at Lovelace, Frank treated generations of Albuquerque families and was known for his humorous and caring bedside manner. At work, Frank was always seen in his trademark cowboy boots and Kentucky string tie and his office was renowned for its numerous Western antique and memorabilia items. Frank enjoyed writing lyrics to country and western songs and had many of his songs recorded. Frank was an active member of the United States Submarine Veterans, a national veterans organization, and enjoyed annual reunions with his former boat mates. During his later years, Frank valued time with his seven wonderful grandchildren, all of whom he considered to be extraordinary. He and his family were among the founding members of Asbury United Methodist Church and he remained a supportive member of the church throughout his life. Frank will be remembered for his sense of humor, love of laughter, care for his many patients, and for his love and dedication to his family. He will be sorely missed by his family and many friends. Frank's family would like to thank the staff of the Intensive Care Units of Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Sandia Women's Hospital and Kaseman Hospice for their loving care. A memorial service was held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10,000 Candelaria Rd. NE, at 7:00 p.m. on March 21, 2005. Rev. Milton Propp and Rev. Roland McGregor will preside over services.
