Fabiola Sanchez de Valdez passed away peacefully in her sleep, March 15, 2005. Preceded in death by spouse, John P. Valdez; daughter, Loretta Valdez-Ziegler; son, John P. Valdez, Jr., grandchildren, Lecia Valdez-Kadlec, Joe Valdez-Kadlec, and Vincent Gutierrez. Survived by sister, Nancy Heard; daughters, Connie Valdez-Rosenquist and Geraldine Chavez, John Otero; grandchildren, Lydia Atencio, Louise Espinoza, Ronnie and Eric Gutierrez, Leesa, Michael, Chris, and Tanya Otero, Anna-Marie Keene, Larry and Mark Padilla, and Maria Chavez; as well as many great- and great-great- grandchildren. She was born and raised in Old Town and a member of the Joe G. Valdez legacy. Fabiola was a legend in her own time. She was a strikingly beautiful woman in her day. Her natural musical talents were surpassed only by the amazing food she created until her last days. Fabiola always had a sense of humor and was never at a loss for words, regardless of the situation. She loved her dogs: Rojo, who passed nearly a year ago, and Trouble, who laid at her side until her last breath. She was courageous until the end maintaining her dignity, pride and spirit. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Rosary to be held at San Felipe de Neri Church on Sunday, March 20, 2005, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass, San Felipe de Neri Church, will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005, at 10 a.m.
