Obituary for HARNER

Robert L. Harner, Jr., 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2005. Robert was born August 10, 1925, the son of Robert Laverne and Helen Lillian Waters Harner, Sr. in Lancaster, PA. He had been an air traffic controller before he retired in 1984. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. Bob married Geraldine E. Fraelich on September 21, 1946. He was a very active member of, and served as an elder in, the Rio Grande Presbyterian Church. Bob enjoyed camping and traveling. Bob was a loving husband, caring father and faithful friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Charles Harner. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine of the family home; children, Bob Harner III and Joan Cole; grandchildren, Adrienne Burrows, David Cole, and Rebecca Cole; great-granddaughter, Macy Burrows; and two nephews, Charles and James Harner. The Visitation will be today, Sunday, March 20, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho. The Service for Bob will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rio Grande Presbyterian Church, 600 Coors Blvd. NW, Albuquerque with Pastor Bill Ratliff officiating. Interment will follow in Vista Verde Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to Rio Grande Presbyterian Memorial Fund, P.O.Box 66498, Albuquerque, NM 87193.
