Paul Edgar Ritschel, 88, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005. Paul was born in 1916 to Arthur and Adelaide Ritschel in Monmouth, IL, the youngest of five children. He began working for Trans World Airlines in 1943, and was stationed in numerous locations throughout the world, including Athens, Greece, where he met his wife Thalia in 1948. In 1961, he was assigned to work at the Albuquerque Sunport, where he continued his career until retiring from TWA in 1981. Paul was a founding member of the Sunport Optimists Club, through which he volunteered much of his time for community events and for raising money in support of the youth of Albuquerque. Paul is survived by his wife of 56 years, Thalia Ritschel; his daughter, Katherine Ward and husband, Allen Ward of Centennial, CO; his son, Dennis Ritschel and wife, Kathleen Ritschel of Santa Fe, NM; his granddaughter, Annie and his grandson, Devin. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, John, Frances, and Betty, and his daughter, Velma. Services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2005, 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont NE, 87110.
