Obituary for MENDEZ

Pedro Santiago Mendez was born March 30, 1923, died on Saturday morning March 13, 2005, after a long illness here in Albuquerque NM, Pedro lived at 119 Williams SE, raised in Albuquerque, NM until the age of six years old. Left with his father to live in La Barca, Mexico, and stayed there until he was 12 years old. He then came back to the United States at age 23 to visit his uncle where he met Susana Jinzo. They later married July 30, 1947. He had 12 children and lived a long life of 49 years with his beloved Susana Jinzo. Both Pedro and Susie left a legacy for their children, 23 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. Pedro Santiago Mendez is survived by his five daughters, (Caregiver) Veronica J. (Pino) Mendez, Eppie Montoya, Rachael Jaramillo, Jennie Ortiz, and Helen Jaramillo; five sons, Antonio Mendez, Pete Mendez, John Mendez, Ray Duran, and Rudy Chavez; 23 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Pedro's heart was his wife and family here in Albuquerque. Pedro joined "En El Ultimo Descanso" his beloved wife, Susana Jinzo Mendez; mother, Epiminia Santiago Mendez; father, Epifiano Mendez; brother, Juan Santiago Mendez and sister, Porfidia Santiago Mendez De Garcia. A Viewing will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary on Thursday March 17, 2005. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday following the Viewing at 7:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church.
