Obituary for GOON

Marguerite Nichols Goon of Albuquerque, NM went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 11, 2005. Marguerite was born on January 16, 1925 in Sumter, SC, the daughter of James Louis Nichols and Slava Kvaternik Nichols. She graduated from Sumter High School in 1942. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and her Nursing degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, MD. She married Carroll D. Goon on June 8, 1950. They reared their four children in Monticello, UT where Dr. Goon had his medical practice for 30 years and she worked alongside him as an OR nurse and Office Manager. Upon retirement in Albuquerque, she was a faithful volunteer with Meals on Wheel and a member of Hoffmantown Church. Preceded in death by her parents and a sister (Mary); she is survived by her husband of 54 years, Carroll of Albuquerque; daughters, Carroll and husband, Willem of Toronto, Canada, and Kathy and husband, Don of Portland, OR; sons, Jim and wife, Leslie of Frisco, TX, and Jon and wife, Judy of Mt. Airy, MD; sisters, Lula Sheridan, Eleanor Denny, and Gloria Kerr and husband, Bill; and brothers, Nick Nichols and wife, Cleo, and George Nichols and wife, Mary Ann; three granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Friends may visit French Mortuary one hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 5901 Harper Dr. NE, 87109.
