Obituary for CHRISTOPHERSON

Selwyn Christopherson, born December 22, 1915 in Canton, SD, passed away February 8, 2005. He is survived by wife, Mamie Lee of Rio Rancho; sons, Keith, Edgewood, NM; Steven and wife Nancy, Hartford, CT; Mark, Boise, ID; daughters, Louise, Albuquerque; Sally Keller and husband, Ron, Boise, ID; Colleen Konetzni and husband, Kevin, Rio Rancho; Kathleen Leonard and husband, Jeff, Rio Rancho; Karen Hogerheide and husband, Scott, Albuquerque; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, M.E. "Chris" Christopherson and wife, Marion, Easley, SC; daughter-in-law, Rita Christopherson, Albuquerque. Mr. Christopherson was a life member of VFW Post 401, having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korean War, and of Teamsters Local 492. He learned truck driving in the Civilian Conservation Corps as a young man and later retired from the trucking industry. A volunteer with the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau for several years, he was known for his warmth, friendliness, great singing voice and dancing ability and his "Mutton Chops" sideburns. Besides his family, "SILKY" as he was called from childhood, gave much attention to his garden full of box turtles. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Lutheran Church, 305 Unser Blvd, Rio Rancho, followed by a reception at the family home. Mr. Christopherson will be taken to Hawaii, a favorite vacation spot, at a later date.
