Obituary for HORTON

Mae Dell was born February 25, 1924, in Spring Creek, Texas, the daughter of Oliver and Una Mae Scott. She left this earth to be with her precious Savior and Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2005. Her parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George J. Horton, Jr. of Albuquerque; one son, George O. Horton and wife, Judy of Crowley, TX; three daughters, Carrie Berry, Betty Johnson, both of Albuquerque and Carol Luikens and husband, Jerry of Rio Rancho; two sisters, Billie Guerin and husband, Donald of Phoenix, AZ and Mary Alice Bassham and husband, Glenn of Wylie, TX; two brothers, Howard Scott and wife, Barbara of Arlington, TX and Lee Scott and wife, Sonia of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by four grandsons, J Johnson and David Johnson, both of Heber City, UT, Jonathan Horton of Dallas, TX and Scott Berry of Albuquerque; one granddaughter, Holly Dunning of Albuquerque; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other family members. Mae Dell was a member of the US Navy and since her marriage, has been very active in Baptist work in New Mexico. She was a longtime member of First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, where she served as church librarian for thirty years. Services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at First Spanish Fruit Avenue Baptist Church, 812 Fruit Ave. NW, with Dr. Bernie Moraga and Dr. C. Curtis Askew officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
