Obituary for CAMPBELL

George Campbell went home to be with his Lord on Monday, February 7, 2005 at the age of 80. He went peacefully surrounded by his loving family. George was born December 31, 1924, in Abo, NM. He resided in Albuquerque, NM, the past four years after living in Belen for 49 years. George was a veteran of the US Army having served his county proudly in WWII at Normandy. Battles and campaigns include, Northern France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He received Commendations and Decorations, three Purple Hearts; Victory Medal; European, African, Middle Eastern Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. George retired from the U.S. Forest Service in 1975 after 32 years of service, and spent his retirement years enjoying fishing, camping, traveling, and spoiling his family and grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his parents, Martin, Sr. and Bibianita Sisneros Campbell; granddaughter, Samantha Suzanne Hern; sister-in-law, Felice Campbell; and niece, Josie Campbell. George is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sarah Chavez-Campbell; daughters, Dorothy and her husband, Sam Hern, and JoAnn and her husband, Phil Griego; grandchildren, Melissa Hern-Rickey, DeAnn, Philip, and DyAnn Griego; and many loving nieces and nephews. A viewing will take place at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, February 9, 2005 from 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A final visitation will take place on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Risen Savior Catholic Church from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Father Olona officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM. Pallbearers will be Bobby Campbell, Philip Griego, Phil Griego, Sam Hern, Ronald Garcia, and Martin Campbell III, Melissa Hern-Rickey, and DyAnn Griego. Honorary pallbearers will be DeAnn Griego, Jeff Meyers, Ray Romero, Roddy Silva, Kevin Leith, Andrew Campbell, and Mary Seidel. George lived his life to glorify Christ. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N.
