Obituary for PRATT

Dorothy L. Pratt, 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1997, died peacefully on Monday, January 31, 2005. She was born on August 11, 1916 in Redondo Beach, Ca. She married her husband Orville in Los Angeles where they had four children. Orville transferred to Albuquerque as city passenger agent with the Santa Fe Railroad in 1953. Dorothy was secretary to Lena Clauve, Dean of Women at UNM, before they moved to Phoenix in 1963. She worked as secretary for the Home Economics Dept. at Arizona State University until her retirement. She and Orville were married for 60 years until his death in 1998. They had enjoyed many years traveling together, soaking up Arizona sun, and socializing with a wide circle of friends. Dorothy was an avid reader all of her life and was devoted to the education of her children. She and Orville worked hard and managed to realize their dream that all of their children would gain college degrees. She is survived by her brother, Glenn Stock of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and her son, Orville Pratt, Jr. and wife, Judy of Albuquerque and their two daughters, Emily Pratt and Heather Pratt-Chavez and husband, Benjamin S. Chavez and Dorothy's great grandson, Benjamin F. Chavez; her son, Gary Pratt and his wife, Marti of Miami and their son, Bryan and daughter, Jenna; her daughter, Nancy Pratt of Albuquerque; and her son, Phillip Pratt and his wife, India and their sons, Ethan, Michael, and Joshua of Amagansett, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Albuquerque Zoo. A memorial service will be held in Torrance, CA in early March.
