RICHARD CARLOS MAES, age 55, of Santa Fe, passed away Monday, January 31, 2005. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Maes, Mr. and Mrs., George Marquez; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rodarte, Lorenzo Marquez, Ernie Marquez, Frank Maes, Gilbert and Frances Maes, Isabel Maes, Mr. and Mrs. Alfonso Maes and Billy Maes. Richard was born May 24, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM, the loving son of Carlos and Rachel Maes. He graduated from St. Michael's High School and Highlands University. He served in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy as a Frogman. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be donated to the P.M.S. Hospice Center, 1400 Chama Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505. He is survived by children: Steve Maes, Mike Maes and Katie Patterson; brothers and sisters-in-law: George Maes and wife, Anita M. Maes, Lawrence Maes, Charlene and husband, Gil Ulibarri; parents: Carlos T. Maes and Rachel Marquez Maes; Grandchildren: Jessica Johnson, Carlos Jessie, Carlos Eric, and Erin Maes; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to the V.A. Hospital in Albuquerque, P.M.S. Hospice Center; especially, Bea, Dabrot and Deborah Berardinelli. Serving as pallbearers will be Lawrence Maes, George Maes, Mario Marquez, Michael Marquez, and George Marquez. Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Maes, Jr. and Mike Maes. Visitation will begin on Thursday, February 3, 2005, 5:00 p.m., where a Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Mass will be conducted Friday, February 4, 2005, 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
