Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Wednesday January 26, 2005

Leslee A. Harrison, 69, born November 17, 1935 in Pocatello, ID, died January 23, 2005 in Albuquerque, NM. Leslee graduated Albany High School, Albany, OR 1953; graduated Oregon State College 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Education; and in 1965 with a Masters Degree in Business Education. She married James Harrison in 1955. Her career was as a Social Worker with underprivileged children, as a Business teacher in high schools, and as a mother and housewife. Leslee spent a number of years as an active member of Assistance League in Albuquerque. She was a life-long collector of dolls and belonged to a number of doll clubs and organizations. She co-chaired the International Barbie Convention held in Albuquerque. Leslee was an avid and passionate doll collector her whole life. She had been a member of Albuquerque's Antique and Modern Doll Club for 25 years, having served as an officer in every capacity. She was a member of the Land of Enchantment Gene fan club for eight years, and a member of the National Madame Alexander collectors club for 20 years, during which she chaired a Madame Alexander Premier. Leslee was a charter member of the Barbie Friends of Albuquerque Club. She was instrumental in bringing the highly successful National Barbie Convention to Albuquerque and served in a tri-chair capacity for Barbie Ole. Perhaps her greatest love was the United Federation of Doll Clubs, a national organization to which she was dedicated and totally involved. Leslee served as regional director for UFDC, which includes New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma. She was currently chairing a regional convention in Albuquerque this spring. Leslee was a presence at the various doll conventions she attended around the country. Always recognizable in her southwestern attire with special matching hats, Leslee wore many hats; in fact, her hat was her trademark. Her effervescent personality, and the enthusiasm she brought to the doll world, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She lived in Albany, OR, Corvallis, OR, Sweet Home, OR, Bend, OR, Ruston, LA, and settled in Albuquerque, NM in 1973. She is survived by her husband, James D. Harrison; brother, James with wife, Claudette Perse of Houston TX; by three sons and daughter in laws, Robert and Kathy Harrison, Steven and Hope Harrison, all from Albuquerque, and Michael and Elizabeth Harrison of Jacksonville NC; and six grandchildren, Christopher, William, Lesliann, James, Tatiana, and Olivia. She was blessed with an additional family at Consignment Auto, where she assisted her sons with their business. All of the employees and many customers called her "MOMS" and would seek out her wise advice or her shoulder to cry on. Memorial services to be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas NE at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 27, 2005. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Assistance League of Albuquerque.
