Obituary for ROMERO

Abel LeRoy Romero, age 73, passed away on January 12, 2005. LeRoy honorably and proudly serviced in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the construction industry as a foreman. LeRoy enjoyed competing as a calf roper and team roper and was a member of the USTRC as a consistent competitor, winning his last roping competition just before Christmas 2004. LeRoy's family meant everything to him. He was a loving and caring dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Trinidad Romero; sisters, Olivia Garcia, Adelia Armijo, Neddie Garcia; brothers, Arsenio Romero, Lincoln Romero, and Fidel Romero. LeRoy is survived by his loving friend and ex-wife, Carmen Lopez Romero; his daughter, Geneva Sachs of Albuquerque, NM; his son, Buddy Romero and grandson, Abel Martin Romero of Bosque, NM; Jerome Cordova of Jarales, NM, whom LeRoy thought of as a son; brothers, Raul Romero and his wife, Lila of Oakland, CA; Wilson Romero and his wife, Carmen of Bosque; sisters, Pauline Torres of San Bernardino, CA; Viola and her husband, Elmon Sanchez of Bosque; sisters-in-law, Anna Romero of Fremont, CA, and Maria Romero of San Leandro, CA; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will begin with a viewing on Friday, January 14, 2005 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Romero Funeral Home Chapel; A visitation will be at Abundant Life Christian Center, 105 Avenida Del Fuego in Rio Communities on Saturday, January 15, 2005at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Barnard Carabajal, Jr. officiating. Interment will take place at Bosque Cemetery. Pallbeareres will be Louis, Edwin, and Greg Romero, Pat Pino, Quarai Silva, and Gilfred Salas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerome Cordova and Rick Romero. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
