Obituary for NORDSTRUM

Marian L. "Sis" Sis died January 10, 2005. She was born January 6, 1919 in Chicago, IL to Edwin C. and Myrtie E. (Rowlett) Lovett. Most of her early life was spent in Garden Grove, IA where she met and married Stanley C. Nordstrum on March 19, 1936. They farmed until 1964, moved to Santa Fe, and later to Albuquerque. Her children, who all survive her, are Olive "Gussie" Williams of Mackinaw City, MI, Mary Brooks (Glen) of Albuquerque, Bob Nordstrum of Albuquerque, and Doug Nordstrum (Marj) of West Des Moines, IA. Proud grandmother of Kevin, Brian (Laurel), and Eric Williams, Kristi (Wes) Lane, Angie (Chad) Niederhauser, Matt Nordstrum, and Patrick Nordstrum. Very proud great-grandmother of Isabelle and Hudson Williams and Hayden Niederhauser. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Grace and Mary Ellen Lovett. Preceding her in death were her parents; her beloved husband; grandson, Mark Brooks; son-in-law, Gary Williams; brothers, Doug and Bob Lovett; brothers-in-law, Arnold Lovett, Bob and Frank Nordstrum; sisters-in-law, Barbara Lovett, Hazel and Katie Nordstrum. Sis will also be missed by numerous other relatives and friends. She became an Honorary Alumnus of St. John's College of Santa Fe; a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Hospital Volunteers where she was known for handmade stuffed animals, and a first class cookie baker for all. A devoted 66-year member the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter AL. Keeping in touch with family and friends by letter was her lifelong passion. Marian resided for the past 2 1/2 years in the Assisted Living Unit of the Montebello Retirement Community where one could always hear the clicking of her typewriter. The family is very grateful for the outstanding care, love and concern provided by both the Montebello staff and Ambercare Hospice. Cremation has taken place. Honoring Sis's wishes no service will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life for Sis and Stan is planned for a later date.
