Obituary for NELSON

Louise M. Nelson, 89, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on December 31, 2004. Born in Brooklyn, NY on January 9, 1915, Louise called New Mexico home since 1991. She was a gifted pianist, artist, and needle crafter who created beauty in any medium she chose. Her many talents live on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Malcolm, son-in-law, Fred Malcolm and their children, Fred Jr., John, Heather, and Bernadette, and their families; son, Denis Nelson, daughter-in-law, Maureen Nelson and their children, Denis Jr., Kevin, Patricia, and Colleen, and their families; daughter, Elizabeth Frey, son-in-law, Glenn Frey and their children, Christina, Cynthia, Douglas, Cecilia, Catherine, and Carol Ann, and their families. Also, there are her grandchildren, Lee Nelson and Michele Lauret, their spouses and children living in Maryland. In all, Louise had 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Nelson, a retired NYC firefighter; her son, Harold Nelson Jr.; her brothers, Walter, Edward, and Quintin Nowak; and sisters, Bernadette Simmons and Catherine Jackson. Cremation has occurred and there will be a Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 1:00 p.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE, Rio Rancho. On Sunday, January 9, 2005, at 3 p.m. there will be a memorial celebration for Louise at Acantilado Vista Retirement Community, 920 Riverview Dr. SE, Rio Rancho, for her friends and neighbors. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Lindenhurst, NY will be held in the Spring.
