Obituary for COFFEY

Clifford Winston Mr. Clifford Winston Coffey, 86, of Venetia, PA, died at 10 am Wednesday, December 8, 2004, in McMurray Hills Manor. He was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Born February 27, 1918 to Austin Jullian Coffey and Nancy Luetty Yell in Mayfield, Oklahoma, he grew up on the family farm and graduated early from primary education received in a one room school house. He received his B.A. in Agriculture majoring in Agronomy from Oklahoma A & M College, completing the 4-year program in 3 years. Mr. Coffey honorably served in WWII as a Seaman 1st Class in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Morberly as an Aerographer's Mate. He worked as a Soil Scientist for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service and later worked as an appraiser with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and was responsible for assessing counties in Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. Mr. Coffey was an avid golfer and proudly served as President of the Paradise Hills Country Club in Albuquerque, NM. He was a 15 year hospital volunteer at St. Joseph West Hospital in Rio Rancho, NM. On May 30, 1940 he married Velma Carmelita Tinker of Stillwater OK, who died October 15, 1995. Mr. Coffey is survived by a brother, Austin Doyle Coffey of Payson, AZ; a daughter, Andrea Nanette Carriere of Basking Ridge, NJ; two grandchildren, Lance Douglas Carriere of Madison, NJ and Jeanna-Mar Simmons of Venetia, PA; and two great-grandchildren, Lance Andrew Carriere and Chelsea Madison Carriere, both of Madison, NJ. Services in PA will be private. In the near future, both Mr. and Mrs. Coffey will be interred in "Brookside," the Yell family cemetery in Roger Mills County, OK.
