Doris J. Wilds (nee Schiffner) preceeded in death by her loving husband, Judge E. C. Gober. Survived by her brother, James F. Schiffner and her sons, James L. Gober, E.C. Buz Gober, Richard L. Gober and daughter, Eileen Thompson. Grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 21. Born on a homestead between Springer and Clayton NM 3 years after statehood the family moved to Raton when she was 9 years old. Later her father began work on the AT&SF Railway in Las Vegas NM. Father would transfer to Albuquerque where he would retire from working the railroad shop as a carpenter. She learned to cook from her mother who had taken in roomers and boarders over the years and made candy that was prized by all during the holidays. Her husband was police judge from the mid 30's to 1946 and they owned Gober and Son's Furniture Company on Gold Ave. After her husbands death she worked for many years in food service; First with APS and then retiring from Presbyterian Hospital as food supervisor. When younger she hunted, fished, and camped with the family. She was an early member of the First Baptist Church and the Pitheon Sisters. The hardships of ranch life prepared her well for helping with her younger brother's and sister and learning to prepare wonderful meals for her family. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed by her family and friends. Services will be held at Fitzgerald & Son's Mortuary Monday Nov 29th at 2:00 p.m. Internment will be private.
