Mildred McGehee Glocker, 95, was born in St. Louis, MO April 25, 1909 and passed from this earth on November 24, 2004. She was the daughter of Charles Albert Glocker and Edith Petrie Glocker, and the great- granddaughter of Thomas Dudley Isom, MD a founding settler of Oxford, MS and the university located there. Mildred worked in a Civil Service career for over 45 years. At age 18 (1927), she began working at the Veterans Administration in Dayton, OH in the Eligibility Dept. and worked there until 1941 when she transferred to a better position as budget analyst at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where she remained until her retirement in 1972. She and her sister, C. Margaret Allen Glocker, moved to La Vida Llena Life Care Retirement Community in October of 1994 to be near their sister, Edith Glocker Kirkpatrick. She attended the University of Dayton and Wittenberg College. She was a life long Presbyterian and in her later years, was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, OH. She is survived by her first cousin, Petrie Mitchell and wife, Mary Belle, of Nashville, TN; Lynne Mitchell of Huntsville AL, the widow of her late cousin, Charles Mitchell; her second cousin, Ann Smith Carr and husband, Gary, of St. Louis, MO, as well as a number of other cousins. Mildred was a very independent minded person, was deeply interested in history, genealogy, flowers, birds, music, and considered things in depth before giving an opinion or response. She lived in her own independent apartment with her constant companion, Cat-Boots (age 17). There will be a memorial service at La Vida Llena at a later time. Graveside services and burial will be in Dayton, OH at Dayton Memorial Park where her parents and sister, Margaret are buried. Pastor Ed McNulty will conduct the graveside services assisted by her cousin, Petrie Mitchell. The family would like to thank all the people who have been so attentive to Mildred's needs these last few years, who have honored her wishes to remain as independent as possible with caregiver assistance, and provided care, comfort, companionship, interaction and consideration.
