Obituary for NUANES

Susan Ortega. Mrs. Susan Ortega Nuanes, 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 22, 2004 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Nuanes is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-three years, Mr. Romolo Nuanes; two daughters, Lucille Nuanes and husband, John Waskiewicz; Joan Nuanes and Dennis Schneider; one son, Romolo R. Nuanes and wife, Gloria; two sisters, Josephine Baca and Carmen O. Hauser; one brother, Felipe Otero and wife, Dorothy; four grandchildren, Tamara, Brian, Diana, and Richard; three great-grandchildren, Chad, Ashley, and Victoria; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mrs. Nuanes was a member of the Catholic Church, President of the Senior Council, Multi Cultural Senior Center for ten years, life member of the ceramics club at the Barelas Community Center; she was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother; she was always very proud that one of her Cub Scouts grew up to be State Senator Richard Romero; she was also honored by Congresswoman Heather Wilson as an OUTSTANDING volunteer and had numerous citations from the Governor and Mayor. She also worked as an election poll official in Bernalillo County for many years. A visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover Ave. SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Monsignor Antonio Gonzales. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Schneider, John Waskiewicz, Brian Smith, Chad Smith, Richard V. Nuanes, and Frank Nuanes.
