Obituary for HAYTH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday November 21, 2004

Harvey Hayth's gentle spirit went home to the Lord on Friday, November 19, 2004. He was 93 years old. He was born in Gravette, Arkansas on November 15, 1911, but was orphaned at the age of six and grew up in an orphanage in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene. Harvey met Irene at a dance while on leave from Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri during WWII. He saw her come in the door and went up to her and asked, "I don't know how to dance, but may I hold you while you dance?" That dance lasted for 57 years until Irene's death on May 10, 2002. Harvey served with the Army Engineer Corp. during WWII building roads and bridges in the Aleutian Islands and the Alaskan Highway. After the war, he worked as a surveyor in the oil exploration industry. After retiring, Harvey spent many years growing beautiful flowers and vegetables for which he won numerous awards at the Senior Citizen Garden Club in El Paso, Texas. He is survived by his daughter, Harriet Garcia and husband, Leo, and his son, Mickey Hayth and wife, Linda; four granddaughters, Heather, Vanessa, and Genevieve Garcia and Lily Hayth; one grandson, Leo Garcia, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Anastacia Garcia and Aidan Sisneros; and sister, Ruby Hentges. We will miss our kind and gentle Daddy, but we know he is once again holding Mama while she dances. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at 7:30 p.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A Mass will be said Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, New Mexico Chapter, 8100 Mountain Rd. NE, Suite 102, Albuquerque, NM 87110. French Mortuary 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 275-3500
