Samuel Jackson Ellis, age 89, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on November 18, 2004. Sam was a member of UTU for over 40 years. He belonged to the Shriners and the Masons. Sam retired from the Santa Fe Railroad after 44 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved living it up with his good friends and family. Sam enjoyed playing pool and shuffle board and always had time for his family and neighbors. Sam is preceded in death by his wife, Adelene Ellis of 54 years; and his grandson, Dean Butler. He is survived by his two daughters, Billie and her husband, Galen Neff, Susie and her husband, Ronnie Butler; five grandchildren, Terry Burson and his wife, Debbie, Daryl Burson and his wife, Jeannie, Kaye and her husband, Jerry Jennings, Kim and her husband, Max Coffey and Jimmy Butler and his friend, Elaine Campbell; 13 great- grandchildren; three sisters, Dean Jones, Alta Jesse and Alma Andrews; many nieces and nephews and all his many loyal friends. Services will be held at Romero Funeral Home beginning with a viewing on Monday, November 22, 2004; at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Terrace Grove Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Darrell Fulcher, Walter Hanff, Ronnie Orr, Gary Smith, Mickey Weathersby, Tommy Weathersby, loyal friends, Wayne Smith, Lorraine Wells and Judy Candelaria.
