Obituary for GRUNDMAN

Howard B. "Axel" Grundman, 82, a fifty-five year resident of Albuquerque, died November 8, 2004 in Storm Lake, Iowa where he had made his home since May of 2002. Memorial services will be today (Saturday) in Storm Lake. Online condolences to the family at the funeral home website: www.fratzkejensen.com Howard Burtness Grundman was born November 15, 1921 at Pella, Iowa. He graduated from Pella High School and attended Iowa State University before enlisting in the US Army Air Corps in 1942. He served in India-Burma and Northern Burma. Howard attained the rank of 1st Lt., Flight Instructor, and 1st Pilot M.A.T. in Burma/China. He was honorably discharged on May 25, 1955. Howard worked at the West Furniture Store prior to his career with Equitable and Prudential Insurance, retiring in 1984. His family includes his wife, Marge, of Clovis, NM; his children, Tom and Patty Grundman of Hawthorne, CA, John and Deb Grundman of Storm Lake, IA, Katherine and Barry Keywood of AbuDhabi, U.A.E., and Elizabeth and Don Mahon of Arlington, TX; six grandchildren: Jimmy, Daniel, and Kevin Mahon, Jake and Kate Grundman, and Jennifer Olsen; a brother, Tom and Avis Grundman of Cherokee, IA; a sister, Susan and Kenneth Kramer of Park Forest, IL; nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Jane W. Grundman.
