Obituary for WELLS

Dr. Marvin (Marv), born in New Haven, CT, on October 24, 1917, died peacefully in Albuquerque, NM, on November 7, 2004. Formerly of Milwaukee, WI, Marv attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Wisconsin and graduated there as a Doctor of Medicine in 1942. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Nee Mithus) Wells for 62 years and loving father of K. Richard Wells and daughter-in-law M. Susanna Fry-Wells of Pleasant Prairie, WI. He is also survived by sister, Harriet Gill of San Diego, CA; three cousins, Sari Magaziner of Scarsdale, NY, Marcia Prester of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and David Fromkin of New York City, NY; and step-grandchildren, Michael and Christina Thompson of Pleasant Prairie, WI. He proudly served his country in World War II as a captain and doctor in the United States Army Medical Corps. After the war, he practiced general medicine and surgery in Milwaukee until his retirement to Albuquerque in 1984, where he became preceptor and volunteer professor of medicine at the University of New Mexico Medical School. He was a Charter Fellow and life member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and of the State Medical Society of Wisconsin. He was a member and past president of Messiah Lutheran Church in Albuquerque. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and the Green Bay Packers; he loved hiking and his cats. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 11515 Lomas Blvd. NE, in Albuquerque.
