Obituary for VIALPANDO

Antonio "Tony" Vialpando, Jr., age 81 a lifelong resident of Los Lunas passed away on Monday, November 1, 2004, was a member of the San Clemente Catholic Church, serving as an usher for over 10 years. Antonio served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African Middle Eastern Ribbon and The Good Conduct Medal. He proudly served his country from 1945 to 1947. Tony was a rural route mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office for several years before going to work for A.C.F. in Albuquerque, NM, in 1957. He continued with the company when it changed over to General Electric. Tony retired from G.E. in 1987 after 30 years of outstanding service. Tony loved riding his bicycle and enjoyed dancing and fishing. He was the proud son of the late Antonio Sr. and Rosenda Soto Vialpando; the dear brother of the late Ben and the late Eloy Vialpando of Pagarito, NM; the late Flores Vialpando of Los Angeles, CA; the late Lola Perea of Los Lunas, NM. He is survived by his loving campanion of 13 years, Lillian Caron of Los Lunas; his five loving children, Robert and his wife, Doris of Los Lunas, Susan and her husband, Mike Ortega formerly of San Juan Capistrano, CA and now of Los Lunas; Debra and her husband, Jamie Jameson of Los Lunas; Steven Caron of Los Lunas; and Cheri and her husband, Les Snipes of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; four sisters, Sophie and her husband, Felix Artiaga of Los Lunas, Rita Granado and Erlinda Lopez both of Los Angeles, CA and Helen Padilla of Albuquerque. Tony is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews. All services will take place at San Clemente Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Thursday November 4, from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. A final viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 5, at San Clemente Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at San Clemente Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Demetrio Vialpando, Mike Ortega, Clem Artiaga, Sr., Clem Artiaga, Jr., Lawrence Artiaga, Jamie Jameson, Steven Caron and Paul Luna. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St. Belen.
