Paul P. Verchinski (Wiercinski), 88, of Albuquerque, formerly of East Hartford, CT, beloved husband of Genevieve (Klopotowski) Verchinski, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 in Reston, VA. Born in Jermyn, PA as the son of the late Adam and Michalina Wiercinski, grandson of the late Aleksandar Wiercinski and Anna Osmolshich of the diocese of Drohyczyn, Poland. He had lived in Jermyn as the son of a coal mining and shop keeping family, graduated Jermyn High School and studied law at the University of Scranton. He had lived in East Hartford for 40 years. He was a production line worker at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft during WWII, an early teacher of IBM systems, and became chief of data processing for the CT State Tax Department. A former communicant of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, Hartford CT., he was a gold star member of the Polish Falcons and a member of the Polish National Alliance. He moved to New Mexico 13 years ago to retire. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Paul and his wife, Therese Verchinski of Columbia, MD, Thomas and his wife, Mabel Verchinski of Southington, and Stephen Verchinski with Carolyn Johnson of Albuquerque, NM. He leaves five grandchildren, Beth Ann, Peter, Kara, David, Jason; and a great-grandson, Joel Thomas. He also leaves two brothers, Adam and his wife, Joan Verchinski of Wayne, NJ, and Peter Verchinski of Gulfport, MS: a sister, Victoria Musial in Eynon, PA; and was predeceased by a son, Thaddeus Verchinski, a brother, Phillip, and a sister, Jeanne Zlotucha. The funeral was held Tuesday, October 5 with a Mass of Christian Burial at SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, Hartford. Burial was held October 6 at Our Lady of Czestochowa National Shrine Cementery, Doylestown, PA.
