Edith Kammerer, 84, had moved to Rio Rancho in May of 2004. She lived in Orlando, FL from 1993 to 2004. Edith was born December 5, 1919, the daughter of Harry and Bessie Hahn Bassowitz in Brooklyn, NY. She had worked as a secretary in the healthcare business in Amityville, NY before retiring. Edith was a member of the Knights of Pythias; member of Women's American O.R.T.; a contributor to the House of Sages; volunteered with the American Cancer Association in Long Island, NY; volunteered with Jewish Family Services in Orlando, FL; volunteered with Recovery, Inc. in Long Island; started a support group for widows and widowers in Long Island; was a co-leader in the group, Course in Miracles. Edith was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by two children, Harvey Baron and wife, Marlene of Beaverton, OR, and Michael Baron and wife, Pamina Deutsch of Corrales, NM; three grandchildren, Evan Baron and wife, Stacey, Gabriel Baron, and Melina Baron-Deutsch; two great-grandchildren, Yaakov Dovid, and Yehuda; one brother, Nat Bassevitch; three sisters, Eleanor Mosesman, Thelma Katz, and Leanore Donovan. Services were held on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Boulevard Riverside Chapel in Brooklyn, NY. It has been suggested that memorial contributions be made in Edith's name to the American Cancer Society, Memorials - Donations, 1-800-227-2345.
