Albert Joseph Carr, 85, passed away in Albuquerque on October 2, 2004, surrounded by loving family members. Albert was born in Aurora, IL on September 6, 1919. His mother, father, and brother, Jack H. Carr, preceded him in death. His loving wife, Ruth, of 61 years; daughter, Patricia and husband, Anthony Drypolcher; granddaughter, Katherine; and daughter, Linda and husband, David Chavez, survive him. After high school graduation and one year at the University of Illinois, he entered the U.S. Army at Camp Wolters, TX in 1942. In 1943 he graduated from OCS at Fort Benning, GA as a Second Lieutenant. He served in the 5th Army, 34th Division, in Italy during WWII where he received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was called back into the service in 1950 and was with the 7th Army in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1955 as a Captain. Albert worked his entire life in the grain industry, beginning with the Quaker Oats Company in Chicago and retiring from the Krause Milling Company in Milwaukee. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a Mason for 50 years. At the age of 75, he received a philosophy degree from the University of New Mexico. A Memorial Service will be held on October 18 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church. Burial will take place after the service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Albert's name to Presbyterian Hospice, 8300 Constitution NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.
